Ambushed U.S. Troops’ Tale of Survival
~Army staff Sgt. Jamie Villafane was in a humvee, leading an armed convoy toward half a dozen Iraqis in Bedouin robes
~3Gunner Sgt. Charles Horgan felt something was wrong
~the civilians ran away from the soldiers
~suddenly there was a rocket heading toward the vehicle
~Horgan yelled “RPG” to warn his colleagues a rocket propelled grenade was coming
~Horgan was blown out on to the roof and Villafane was blown out of the side of the car
~They both tried to find cover and their weapons quickly, just as they are trained to do
~The civilians took off their robes and had Iraqi uniforms on underneath
~Villafane and Horgan survived and are heading back to the US for treatment of their injuries
~Horgan may never walk again due to his injury
